October 20, 2021
Dear Centennial Families,
Welcome back to the 2021-22 school year! It is so wonderful to have our students onsite, in-person, and following expectations that are in place to ensure health & safety for all. Our year has been off to a busy start with rigorous academics, advisory activities, new friendships forming, and athletic opportunities. It is hard to believe that we are already at the mid-quarter of our first term.
We are looking forward to seeing you next week during conferences. As a reminder, students are released Wednesday, October 27th at 11:30, and school is not in session on October 28th & 29th. You student’s advisory teacher has reached out to you to set up a conference during those days. We are having both in-person & virtual options for conferences; please make sure to designate your choice to your student’s advisor. Also, if you chose an in-person conference, and you or a household member becomes ill next week, please let the advisor know, and we would be happy to change your conference to a virtual one. Conferences are student-led, with your student sharing progress, showcasing great work, and setting some goals for the remainder of the year .
I also wanted to let you know that every Wednesday that we have late start/collaboration, from 8:45-9:15 we have student/teacher access time. This time is designed for additional help with a teacher, test/lab make-ups, PE make-ups, one on one time with music teachers, etc. Students would need their own transportation to Centennial and need to come in through the front door and check-in with a secretary. This is a great opportunity, on an almost weekly basis, for additional connection with teachers and support.
While many aspects of our daily activities at Centennial have been able to resume to some semblance of a typical year: onsite, full capacity, athletics, recess, dressing down for PE, 3 feet physical distancing to name a few, there are still protocols that we need to intentionally address. Students are expected to bring a mask and wear it at all times except for outdoor PE & breakfast/lunch. We are still expecting limited number of students in restrooms at a time & 6 feet of physical distancing while eating. And as always, if your student is experiencing any of the following symptoms, please keep them home and call the main office (922-5482):
• Fever or chills
• Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
• Muscle or body aches
• New loss of taste or smell
• Sore throat
• Congestion or runny nose
• Nausea or vomiting
Welcome back Falcon Family!! I look forward to a positive & productive year ahead! If you have any needs that we can help you with, please reach out. We are here for you in whatever way we can be.
