NEWSLETTER FROM PRINCIPAL BROMPS!

April 16, 2021

Dear Centennial Students & Families,

I hope this newsletter finds you all healthy, happy & ready to conquer the last quarter of this school year! It’s been quite a journey we’ve been on together, and I am continually amazed by the resiliency & strength of our students, families, and staff. I couldn’t be part of a better team J.

Monday, April 19th brings the start of students being back on campus full-time. We are so excited for this! Attached to this newsletter is our bell schedule for onsite teaching and learning.  Things to remember as we combine both cohorts and have more students in classes each day:

  • Staff & students will continue to follow all health and safety protocols: mask wearing, physical distancing, lunchroom procedures, hand hygiene, and building disinfecting
  • If your child is ill, please keep them home and call our main office to report their absence and reason
  • Students will be expected to continue to bring their charged chrome book to school daily
  • We will continue to not allow access to lockers for the remainder of this school year
  • Seating charts will continue to be utilized both in classrooms and at lunch

For those students remaining 100% remote/virtual, they will no longer be logging-in to live Google Meets. Assignments for the week will be dropped into Google Classrooms every Monday morning by 8:00 a.m. Every teacher, who has remote learners, will be online in an Office hour Google Meet (links will be sent to your student) every Tuesday morning from 7:45-8:30 a.m. to answer questions about Monday’s posted assignments.  If a student continues to have questions after meeting on Tuesday morning, teachers are available to meet by appointment throughout the week; students need to email their teacher to set up an appointment. Also, advisory teachers of remote learners will have their Advisory Google Meet open every morning from 8:45-9:00 a.m. to connect with students. This is not required for remote learners but highly encouraged as school announcements are made during this time.

If your child is a current 6th/7th grader, we have some leadership opportunities available for them for the 2021-22 school year.  Both 6th/7th graders are eligible to run for ASB offices. Current 7th graders are eligible to apply to be a WEB (Where Everybody Belongs) Leader; this is a mentorship program where 8th graders work with 6th graders on their transition to middle school.  Watch for more information coming to your students on these great opportunities within the next few weeks.

Again, we look forward to the final quarter of this school year unfolding with students back with us onsite fulltime.  If you have any questions, concerns, celebrations to share with us, or needs of any kind, please do not hesitate to contact me at [email protected] or (509)922-5482.

Sincerely,

Karen Bromps, Principal
