I am going to get this recording and would like to welcome you this morning and we are hopeful that we at some point see you in person or back to school or Haitian or an open house soon we have with us myself I'm here and we'll work on the principal at Centennial and we have Tyrone Ford our system principal will be sharing out as well and we had our office manager April abelman who will be kind of monitoring the q-and-a for us if we happen to miss something a question that needs to be addressed so we're glad you're spending the next about our with us and might not even take that long agenda this morning we're going to cover four main points I'm going to talk a little bit about the state county and District guidelines those of you that have been attending the communities blooms that our district has put out some of this will be a repeat of that information but if you missed it is some good information that helps guide the work you're at Centennial then we'll talk a little bit about how those guidelines recommendations and pertain to Centennial and our processes here this upcoming school year will have a little bit of time for some questions and answers and again will hopefully get to all of those and we will end with us a video where is that a 10 minute video if you'd like to stay around and watch that after that our presentation it was made by our students last spring when we can bring our six incoming 6th graders on site for your butt kind of tailored to some 6th grade but it's a great visual of our building inside and out to familiarize yourself with that okay so this is kind of a comparison of this time last year to the fall of 2021 and kind of our our journey with that as you see as you can remember this time last year we were starting 100% in the remote learn teaching and learning world this year were full time in person from pre-k all the way through 12th grade with a virtual Learning Center option for those families and students that feel the best a better fit them last fall when we were getting students back on site whether it was in the cyber cafe or in a hybrid model we needed to be six feet apart student-to-student students and staff and staff. now we're able to have that 3ft physical distancing between students we still need to have the 6-foot distance between staff and students any longer than 15 minutes but this allows us Beyond sight in person full-time masking was required in and out of the school buildings last fall or staff students and visitors and this year is required indoors 10 / staff students and visitors that when their students are outside and they're three feet apart they can have their masks off last fall we didn't have fall activities we didn't have followed families we didn't have fall games we didn't have fundraisers we didn't have any sort of but the traditional games and activities that we had previously had now we're back to regular schedule we're still following Department of Health and Spokane reach health district guidelines around that and we'll talk a little bit more about that but we are slated to begin our Sports this fall we had modified hours in our day we had shaved off an hour every school day last year and this year we're back to my regular school hours and Tyrone will go over our bell schedule with you in a few minutes a positive for both the fall of 2020 and the fall of 2021 is it is free student meals for all students regardless of household income that's free breakfast and free lunches and my understanding is that we will possibly have a little bit more Choice with them this year and warm breakfast instead of more of the grabbing goes quarantining last fall it was a complete 2 weeks now it says 7 to 10 days quarantine and again we'll talk a little bit more about contacting quarantining and how we need to address that for safety again this is the the close contacts for the six feet again it's 60 for adults 3 feet for students in classroom and test out options we have 17 starts as a district last year which is quite a bit of transition to our students and our families and our staff and this year we're back to regular September 8th and then kindergarten starting on the 13th that's just that's the district information the health and safety guidance again words to keeping everybody safe and healthy masking is required indoors regardless of vaccination status for both staff students and visitors ventilation and cleaning and disinfecting that is going on in a basis is the distance seen against the three feet between students six feet between adults and students and six feet between adults and adults we will continue with enforcing an encouraging good hand hygiene and respiratory etiquette we have a hand sanitizers we encourage students to make use of those as well as cleaning equipment and things like that between use please please keep your children home when they're not feeling well we do not need the blue attestation cards this year I'm documenting that your students are free but again with any sort of virus or any sort of illness please stay home we will excuse absences we will get work to your students we would just like to are on everybody staying healthy and that we will continue to work closely with Public Health Partners to follow guidance and update things as needed again we can enforce this enough about the manager asking and buildings when they're open to the public this includes visitors again regardless of vaccination status okay so quotes cats and quarantine is similar to how things unfolded in the springtime once we are back on site full time and we needed to have episodes of quarantining so any student teacher staff member who does report covid-19 like symptom needs to immediately isolated from others and sent home as soon as physically possible close contacts of a person diagnosed with covid-19 must quarantine and we would be notified within 24 hours if your stew is DM someone who was a close contact with someone who's positive for covid-19 this is a new piece right now being at the middle level we have many of our students eligible vaccinations and that again is a Family Choice around that but if they are close contact and they have been fully vaccinated but they are asymptomatic then your student would not need to quarantine and then a close contact with someone who was within six feet of an infected individual for at least 15 cumulative minutes over 24 hour. During the time as soon or staph infection against School meals will be free for all students and we are still asking that the free and reduced applications and forms are still turned in by October 1st because of your student does qualified and they would be exempt from ASP fees which is would be helpful if they are going out for sports and things like that and if your students are riding a bus they will still be given an assigned seat they will still be required to wear a mask a distance is Italy distance whenever reasonably possible most of our routes are fairly short and then the windows will be down in all weather conditions so just know that that will also be a factor in making sure students are appropriately as especially as the weather starts to change there are free backpacks and school supplies available at every school we will have them here well the Salvation Army has graciously donated those to our school district and so if your student is in need please just reach out you'll have all of our contact at the end of this presentation and would be happy to make sure your student whatever they need for school animatronics over to Tyrone for a few more slides thank you all for coming we really appreciate it we're going to get a lot of information to do so again like Mrs willwerth said if you have any questions at the end you'll have her contact information just please let us know this is a new side I don't see the kids will see throughout the school this is one of our main expectations that will do you were putting a positive spin on it are fantastic Falcons are messed up you can see through the picture it does have our three Mantra that we live by our respectful responsible ready to learn our Falcon here in this picture has a mass start wearing it properly and that also you can see in the picture that I are falcon has a lanyard on which I'll talk about later which is the one of our things that our kiddos will have every day one thing that will also be focused on because we are back in the building were excited to be * I'm here in the building which is a great thing we're going to have our positive behavior system backup or PBIS system so we will be rewarding the kids throughout the year throughout the day for doing the right thing whether it's wearing I was just being respectful I don't have a chance to earn small prizes and they can also save some of their fantastic balcon tickets tour and put them towards bigger prizes that will happen will start presenting those and sharing those out with the key it's too but it should hopefully make our things excitable make them or keep them excited about being back in the building and then I'm just allow us to do the great things that we want with our kids in person then we'll move on to our entry points these entry points are the same entry points that we had last year and so you can see the green circle we have there towards the bottom of the picture that is usually where are drop off students and are Walkers with we will have them we will do just like we've done last year's we're going to have the front parking lot blocked off unless they're special circumstance but child's approaches are we do have somebody that drops off might need to get out and they have a handicap sticker or if they just need to come in real quickly we will open that at times but we have it blocked off because we have a lot of kids that move back and forth between Metairie and we'd like to keep them as a possible and so we do have all showing another slide I'll show you where we will have our drop off when you do come and then most of the other areas are are taking up our buses to so it creates quite the congestion if we have our parents in and out of the main our main entryway save for a special services and students that get to school late so we do open the parking lot once we have most of the kids in the building and are all our buses are left we do open the parking lot so if we it is late they will be able to come into that main parking lot and we know that it's going to be hectic towards the beginning of this year especially with the construction along Oregon so we know that there will be students here late night so just let just let you know when I get the kids in the building if they need to eat we're going to get them fed and they're going to get them to where they need to be and there's not going to be a huge we're not going to really hang them on tardies towards the beginning of the day we get them here get them where they need to be and we will take care of that are pick-up and drop-off will be in the garage gravel parking lot which is on the corner of Ella and Broadway and they enter the gravel parking lot I'll show you there's a diagram so here you can see the sword I have that we made up along Ella Road whichever way you're traveling if you're coming off of Broadway and headed north on Ella they'll be an entry that's near it's right between the grass part in our gravel Steel will be an entry that you'll enter there and then if you are heading south on Ella it's the same entry it'll take some used to a little hectic our first part of the year but it's flow gets going it it ends up working out real well and then suggestion is always when you go around and there's usually lines and there's columns that leads around the way when you exit that same gravel parking lot which is farther downtown Dallas closer to Broadway is to always take a out of that parking lot even if you are just trying to get down Ella to a couple blocks my suggestions always take a right out of that parking lot because cutting back across that traffic can be super hectic and then just know take some time out of the but this is where we drop off in the morning this is where you can pick up your children after school as well we have adults that are out there directing kids and directing adults around we do ask that when you get in here when you talk to your children just let him know hey I'm in the parking lot and we ask that cars pull up as far as they can and to this thing so if you can pull all the way up to the end of the park are the tennis court have a safe path walk so don't have to Dodge in between cars but if we just stop right there at the entry we have a lot of cop cars that black back up so we're trying to create as much space for everyone so I'm a see if you can screwed up that because we allow the kids to start coming in the building at 805 this year since we're back on a regular schedule with us all show you and share in just a second we try to have kids not dropped off too early we will open the doors at 8:05 so usually ask that the kids don't get here any sooner than 8:00 cuz we don't want them just Meandering around or anything like that so we do open the doors at 8:05 and they have those different entries this entry closer here as usual they come in our sides if you're closer to our gym is where our bus riders will come in and then we have an entry that those that just want to come in and eat breakfast we have an answer for them as well and we'll have people outside directing kids every place that they need to be and so we should hopefully how fast should hopefully help I get kids to where they need to be and so we can move on to the schedule so here's a day in the life of CMS our advisory starts at 8:15 like I said we will have our bill we will have the doors open at 8:05 and the kids can through those doors and then they can had to their lockers if they choose to use a locker they can head to their advisory classrooms and then like I said if there's an area if they want to go to breakfast we have a door did they can answer to breakfast on their advisory class will be the first part of the day so we have advisory for the first half hour of the day it's a great time to reconnect the all have a assigned teacher where they will be in that the smaller classroom to get to build a strong relationship with an adult as the year goes on we'll have small little nugget the blessings that we we will be teaching them and most of them were built around being respectful responsible and ready to learn and then those are also times where we can present special information that we might have for them or make announcements or deliver prizes and all those things so it's a it's a really great time of the days just get them in the building let them take a deep breath and then get ready for the day and the nice thing is going to allow us to with the construction everything is not allowed to get kids right into the building they have a place to get and then I can move on to the academic classes so we should hopefully have every kid in the building before their academic start so they shouldn't have to stress about that another thing that we we did last year which will be great for this year's we use land so the Landers the kids all get a lanyard they have mine and making them don't get them to sign up and everything but we have like our lanyards are here they have their own will provide them with their own Roku or lanyard for their identification everything but if they want their own they can do their own we ask that they wear these because their ID actually has their their library number which is also their lunch number and everything on that and this year even though breakfast and lunch or free they still have to scan it so we know that they'll start the year without an ID so we will get their numbers punched in. Still have to punch in their numbers and everything but we will as when they do get their IDs don't have these carry around and their landlord that is something that we do want them to have everyday because they also use those as their passes in the hallways and when they need to hit the back Frozen stuff do we have a system that they use where the landlords are used to so we can make sure that we have safe distance in the bathroom as well that Walker's they will have it they will have an opportunity to use lockers this year there certain times during the day they will be able to use those lockers and the daytime during the days I can use the lockers will be they can use them when they come in the building the beginning of the day they can use them or go to them at lunch and then at the end of the day and so are most of the other day they can just grab your stuff and carry it around they will be allowed to carry their backpacks so that is a change from you know traditionally those it may have had kids over here at Centennial 2 to 3 years ago know that we did not use lockers at backpacks but now they are allowed to carry their backpacks so that will be a change a good change for them to be able to carry their stuff around so they weren't really need to access their lockers as much what we do what's the weather for have large equipment like that they can put like once they come in and they have like it's cold and they have their big winter coat you know they can take those and put them in there when the sports are spring sports are coming and they have there been apps that might have larger equipment we do want them to put those in their lockers because it does become cumbersome for them and then just space-wise even in classrooms I have become kind of a Detroit there so hopefully that will be a they can use your lockers other than that a lot of kids are just really enjoyed over the last year just carrying their backpacks enjoying their stuff with them lunch we will have two spots for lunch we are going to go ahead and work on keeping kids still safely distance so we will still be using our comments and then we'll also be using our second gym for a place for them to eat lunch it allow us to keep the kids in there we do have three lunches this year so it'll phone numbers to be smaller so that'll be great but it does allow us to get the kids spread out and they will still have that option to eat lunch in two different spots and we allow them to sit with people that they want you and then we will have them spaced out in the wet areas and then also like Karen said this year for lunch with their planning on starting as last year we had one we had one item and all the lines offered one item this year they're going to offer two different items they're going to offer hot option in a grill option each day so the kids will have a little more choice and again it's free so we're hoping everyone takes advantage of this breakfast and lunch are free to every students so the only even if you want to pack them lunch and then there's a day that they forget please we will educate the kids to we don't want any of the kids missing out on a meal because we want to fuel their brain so they can be a fully active and ready to go and then sports like Karen said we're start were planning to start Sports on our regular scheduled to start the year football will start actually on the 7th the day right before school and that goes from 3 to 5 so after we have our 7th and 8th graders that are interested in playing football they are make sure you have your physical and paperwork in and they will start on September 7th from 3 to 5 what other sports will start when school starts we have cross country that will start on our first day and I believe we have it will start on her first day as well and then supplies we have a list for those who don't know we we have our we have a very pretty simple supply list we don't ask a super time there might be teachers and asked a couple other things but we we have gone with a pretty clean streamline list of items that is required and those include in a half inch to 2 or 1 and 1/2 inch to 2 inch binder pocket spiders some lined paper whichever they want wider college-ruled a pencil pouch and souls and pans if they can just a cheap pair of earbuds because the time specially when they're using their computer two things if they need to listen to something and some can't deal with this distraction to class they can put those in and it creates and then when they're testing as well we do have some that we do provide for testing that they can have their not the best so if they have their own if they can they can definitely use that the cloth face covering we do ask that they that they have in their bags a couple extra that way if one you know gets messed up at falls off the base weather outside and gets dirty or you know get some  on it during lunch they have one that they can switch into we do provide some in our office but those are just as just an option to do if they need to and then also I know that there were questions about PE uniforms we are going to have to uniforms this year there you can buy them on our website or there's a website link if you go to our site and look at the school supplies on where you can buy them at $6 for the top and the shorts are $9 I believe so $15 for both of them and I think that was it for that flight and everything that we have provided for that schedule we're back to our regular schedule we are we do start 8:15 and we do get out at 2:45 so we better that extra half hour back to my schedule that we were missing even when we went in building last year I think another question I say I'll come up in the chat or Q&A was kind of a meet-and-greet prior to school to get your locker and find your classes unfortunately we can't do that because we couldn't anticipate how many folks would show up and we need to keep the spacing but on first day of school I know Tyrone went over our typical daily bell schedule but on the first day of school on September 8th our students are with their advisers for the majority of the day so they will be at their adviser from 8:15 till about 1 going over purchase those Banks making sure they understand the schedule making sure they understand where their classes are making sure they know where their locker is and they know how to do their combo and that their locker Works taking a tour of the building will do some small grave welcome back quick assemblies again just kind of expressing these expectations that we're talking about here so they'll have that big chunk of that first day of school they won't be asked to go to all six classes all on their own trying to figure it out after they have lunch so it's from 1 to 2:45 is when they will go to their six classes in about 15 minute increments again so they can practice getting their meeting their teacher and that sort of things are kind of doing our meet and greet on the first day of school to make sure they're acclimated and ready for typical day the other thing that I want to make sure you know is that they will be check out a Chromebook again we will continue with our one-on-one leather Chromebook so that the expecting that be coming back and forth to school hopefully we'll get those checked out on that first day as well we do have it here so we had talked about it if there are other things that come up that you have questions for they don't get answered or you don't have time for in the Q&A remiss a question here is the contact information for us here at school are you have Karen brown or Karen will worth is there's her email are phone numbers there's my email phone number and then our counselors and then our dean of students how to write her email is there as well so like I said if there are any questions that come up any other things that we may have missed you please please feel free to contact us and let us help you out through this process I think that's the other information they have is that sit and all we've been moving pepper and getting questions here and there and answering those but at this time if there's any other questions please let us no the first day of school is not a late start no it is not we will start in a regular time kids in the building at 8:05 and we will start their first half of the day will be spent like Karen sit in if I agree but that will start at 8:50 can I pick your spots for lunch absolutely they want them this is their time to sit with their friends it will there will be a seating chart though so we're going to ask them to find who they want to sit by where they want to sit for a while we will change up the seating chart and let him change it up but we do need to have a seating chart for contact tracing at lunch as well the activity bus starting on Wednesday to run do you happen to know that I am assuming it does that usually does start the first day of school last year during Athletics we did not but they'll have the same type of system I don't have two boxes and one bus will take kids towards the north side of our district the other bus will take him towards the south side of our district and drop them off and we have a question about volleyball we have volleyball that starts up that's our second that's early winter season is after our faults so that'll be probably towards the end of October 1st part of November we'll have volleyball at 4 and then wrestling and as far as our late start schedule should be posted on the District website I'm not sure if we have it posted on ours yet if not we will get it there but the late start schedule be the same for the whole District so every school in the district having the same weight starts this year which should be a lot more convenient her parents and families and then for 6th graders I have to double-check I don't we won't I'm not quite sure I'll have to check with John O'Neil our athletic director if we will have the intramurals again this year I know in the past week let some of the sixth graders do like cross-country or wrestling and some of those sports but I will have to double-check with them to see if that is going to happen this year and we will get something that will be put out whether the sixth graders will have the ability to participate in a Sports this year will parents be allowed at games Mayan standing is yes we're going to stay in PODS of families and be as physically distance as we can and everybody again as including visitors and Spectators do need to be stopped or Indoor Sports oh yeah that's my understanding at this point our day of the week that is late start will be Wednesday and I remember our first one I believe is don't make me start till week 3 is a week 3 hours a week week two the second week of school which is the third week of September September that's what it was yes we get that posted on our website will do that today will be September 15th I believe it's the first one and they will be in your students agenda book as well those are delayed unfortunately and your students probably won't get their gender book until closer to the end of September but we will be free my kids to use that keep track of their assignments and there's a great calendar in there that will have all important dates including the collaborations in there too but we'll make sure we get that information readily available to you I believe there's about 23 late start Wednesday and the cost for sports when they are able to participate as they have a transportation fee and an asp fee the transportation fee is paid every sport you going to ask Fifi as once if you do have free and reduced lunch or are eligible for free and reduced lunch we do take care of the ASP is taken care of and then hopefully we'll have Skyward open to families by the end of the work day today to view schedules please be flexible knowing that our counselors have worked tirelessly to balance masses so our kids can stay safely 3 feet apart it's always subject to change but we're hopeful that there's no big changes here and there are the rosters are pretty are pretty set where can I get a sports physical you can do those that urgent cares you can do that through your pediatrician please make sure they are good for 2 years but just make sure it's an actual sports physical not a well child check because they do answer the doctor that that performs the physical will answer a different questions on the one we need answered we have a physical form on our website that you could take to like I said either your pediatrician primary care physician or even an Urgent Care will do some will do sports physicals okay I don't know if we have any more Elena t. You know I don't know Christine on the the Tdap and the covid vaccine in that time line but our nurse will certainly get in touch with you to answer that question or if you want to email or call her she be able to kind of walk you through and those dates are name is Heidi Busby and in fact I can have her reach out to you expertise does not in that area great question setting up a Skyward account that could be a call or they're so they're automatically populated aren't they Pro what does private account kind of I believe but if you haven't made one before you can go to like the West Valley School District website and I was like a little Skyward Wayne that'll take you directly to a our our Skyward login and then from there if you haven't had an account before you basically put in your information and create an account yourself thank you and if you run into a challenge with that please reach out and give us a call from a number in any of our secretaries can walk you through that process it's a great resource for you as a family to have it at your fingertips and I don't see any more questions.
