Welcome
Welcome to Pre-Algebra with Mrs. Wortmann!!
Thank you for visiting my page. I would like to let you know how my class operates...
With standards changing on a constant basis in Washington, I work on a "Growth Mindset" basis in my classroom. Students will have homework every day except test days. They are given class time to work on homework so I may help them with new concepts. As students complete homework, they hold onto it, and then we will correct it first thing the very next school day. I know things happen and sometimes students do not finish their homework. They will have 7 days to get that assignment in (that includes 2 weekend days). I have a board in my class that lists assignments, once that assignment is erased from the board (7 days later), I will not accept it. Students may also fix or redo an assignment that is under a 75%. In fact I encourage it. Just because we don't understand it on our first try does not mean that we will not get it a second time, this is my "Growth Mindset" in my classroom. Just like assignments I encourage students to retake tests that are a 75% and below. It of course is their choice.
This is how my classroom runs:
Attendance
Correct Assignment from the prior school day
Answer Assignment Questions
Collect Scores
Take notes on New Concept
Work on Assignment for the rest of class time
I know as math changes it is sometimes harder to help, here are some websites to help help you and your child with homework:
